Great music lives forever

Today, another 'great' singer passed away, Whitney Houston. Early this morning, this news started to flood my news feed and timeline with everyone offering condolences. Her cause of death was still unknown but according to the speculations going around, it got something to do with her addiction to drug. Notwithstanding whatever the reason is, she will remain on the deathbed.

If you noticed, I put asterisk around the word 'great' when I mentioned about her. It doesn't mean I didn't acknowledge her as a singer but rather it is because due to my shortcomings. I had never been a great patron of music world when I was small. It was not owed to some nonsense like 'western music is evil' spouted by the orthodox, traditionalist elders but rather due to inaccessibility of music world at that time. As her debut as the pop titan was around my primary school period, hence my ignorance of how great and awesome singer she is.

I tried to find and listened to all her famous songs today. Apparently, I would have to agree with the praise and glory sang about her, she deserves those. There's one comment on her video in the youtube that really caught my attention,

"I hope one day I will get the honor i always wanted, to meet you in the heavens above. I guess God needed another beautiful angel with such great talent."

Love,
me
