okaaaayyyyy..that was last thing u want to see early in the morning at ur workplace...
Apparently at 6am this morning, a fire broke out at one of the lab beside my lab building. It was originated from an air-cond that worked its ass off 24 hours the day before. Good thing couple of students came early in the morning to collect some data and reported about the fire. If not, the whole building gonna get burned down just like the vet building on the other side of my building.
Can't really blame the student for letting the air-cond ran for 24 hours. Most of the labs here need to its surrounding in cold temperature all the time for the experiment to work out well. I blame the admin for not replacing the super old air-cond with new one even after lot of request and complaint made. Because of such cheap admin, now they had to paid out lot of money to replace the burnt machines and lab.
Not only that, I pity the students that had stored their specimen and data in that lab. Nothing left and need to start again almost from scratch >_<
Pray that they be strong and nothing bad happens to my lab anytime soon for the next 2 years

wait our vet building is being burnt down? you mean demolishing with burning as one of the method isit?
ReplyDeleteno la..not the still standing one..I mean one of the building that got burnt last year I think...and as far I remember, it was one of the vet building, the old vet...

ReplyDeletebut i guess the most logical reason is those admin don't understand that you need the air-cond to work 24/7 so they just think that requests was not so important..
well, even the higher-ups are prof and lecturer..they should understand why we need it..

Which uni is this? Well it takes something to happen 1st then only people will realise. Admin needs to get its ears pinch. Get more people to complain then they'll have no choice to do something or go higher up with the complaint.

Deletelucky you; i'm not allowed to have air-cons in my office (rationale: not necc for the short warm period). And my mini-office is in the "attic"/roof-top. In summer, it's hot....i have to sit almost naked in my office...
ReplyDelete...to think that my workplace spends more than 1 million€ for electricity/water per year... what would be that little aircon for my office cost?
ohhhhhhhhhh...naked..I'm pretty sure nobody mind..or maybe that's the reason why they dont want to install aircond..hahaha XD
