good grade, bad grade

Today, PMR result was announced. Those that scored well; 8 A's and above, will be in joy while those that didn't will get distraught. U can see the same cycle when the SPM result be announced in few months time. But really, does the number of A's really determine ur success? I'm a living example that it isn't.

My friend called me smart/genius in high school. I'm the type that no need to study every night, rarely did my homework while quite active in sport and other co-curriculum. All my study was done last minute, a week before exam usually. Just flipped open the textbook, read from cover to cover and the exam will be a piece of cake. Other than few subjects that need practice, most I can easily score with such habit.

It's all thanks to my really good short-term memory. Because of that, I'm not only good in science subject but also literature stuff. Nobody can top me in history subject and I also represented in literature quiz and few other quiz.

With all these braggings, lets see where I am now. I am still studying and earn nothing while my other friends that had been in lower class than me are working and raking thousands, dealing with international companies and sort. Yeah, continue into master is considered quite a good stage also but see the reality nowadays. Between enrolling into master and getting a job, the latter is obviously difficult to get. Unless u are really well-versed in ur field with experience, people wont hire u.

So yeah, getting good grade is not everything. It surely help to secure scholarship but nothing else.

    1. My personal opinion; if u get a job offer, take it. If not, then maybe consider continue into master. It could be wrong. Smart boy like u, no need to worry much. Employer be chasing after u, not the other way around =)

But ditto to the good result doesn't guarantee good outcome thing.

  3. Some decided to work earlier while some like you, decided to further studies. So both are good :)
Anyway so true that grades aren't important. People always say As or even a 1st degree is a must, but can you handle the working life? A paper is just to help you get the job, but that's it. People want experience not certs unless you're in the IT industry which may need it.

    1. One has an edge over the other, depending on what goal u aim to achieve =)

A paper doesnt even guarantee u get a job now. It only can get u as far as the interview room, the rest is definitely not something they taught in class
