disastrous caramel

Ever wonder how bad could a day be?

Today ALMOST turned out to be the worst, disastrous day ever.

I was just few minutes away from starting a fire >_<

Left something in a boiler and totally forgotten about it. To make things worse, I set it on 'boil', not 'keeping warm'. So the water was constantly heated up and evaporated. Set it on by 12pm and I went out around 1230pm since I had meeting with supervisor around 1. I only realized about that boiler after my meeting finished which was almost 2. It meant that I had not top up the water inside the boiler for 2 hours already. Considering it was set on 'boil', I was thinking it must have almost evaporated d by that time. U can imagine how panic I was at that time.

Rushed back to lab, threw everything inside bag and sped back home. I never ride that fast for so long, the speedometer was 90kph and above all the time and it still took me a good 20 minutes to reach home. Dashed to the kitchen straightaway and I was right. The water level was so freaking low. If I was late by another hour, it will be totally dried up and the thing inside could explode. Lets just said I been pessimist here.

Wanna know what I left in the boiler? Here it is! The culprit

Trying to caramelize this can of condensed milk and it turned out well even with a little bit of heart attack. Found this recipe somewhere over the internet. In short, just simmer it in hot water. For how long, that depends on ur method. If u gonna keep it simmer in boiling water, 2-3 hours would suffice. If in crockpot/slow cooker, it will take around 6-8 hours.

Loved the taste but definitely cannot make this every week. Imagine the sugar level! Oh gawd~ Really need to hit gym tomorrow =D

Time to start my xmas shopping! With all these good sales around, better grab the chance or else need to wait till chinese new year.

Ok folks, chiaoz~

Love,
me
