Be proud of yourself

Added a new book to my collection.

'The Narcissist' by Edmund Wee.

In general, it looks like a love story of a gay that move over to London with his boyfriend for fear that their relationship may crumble. Along the way, up and down with new guy barge in to spice it up. That is what the author presented.

I believe the author potrayed the journey of a gay in search of self-discovery and self-worth. The protagonist is potrayed as someone who are never satisfied with himself and undergone rigorous regime to get an ideal body after been rejected by his crush.

It is something normal in our circle where everyone tries to woo potential partner by having nicely sculpted body to the point of doing stupid and ridiculous methods that ends up ruin their body more in near future. Working out is not a bad thing but do it in moderation.

Don't get caught up in the siren song of what people think u should look like. What matters most is what u think u are worth. If ur worth are tied to how tune ur body are, such a sad case

There is more to life than that

Love,
me

  1. Herm... I think its not just a dream for many of us to have perfectly sculpted body... its almost like a must for many of us... blame it on the constant attention we gave to our own image? herm...

    1. yah, hence the narcissist..we are actually not in love with ourselves but rather in love with the self that we think we should look like

such a sad world when the outer beauty is everything..it is something, no doubt about that, but it will wither away and what remain will be the inner self only

  3. this sounds interesting. i want to read this!

and I'd blame society for this. people think it's their job to judge others like you mentioned in the previous post. and not every single person out there is overflowing with self confidence. so the fragile few break down and go through various things to attain the perfect body and what not. i'm not saying its a completely bad thing really. it depends on how you look at it. if you were to think about it superficially, thanks to all the people who judge, more people are self conscious and willing to change themselves to look better. if you look at the situation deeper, the society is destroying individualism and self confidence. its good to have it at equilibrium i'd say. but right now, everyone thinks they should judge. especially gay people

there's so much hate already outside the community. why create hate within it? I just don't understand.

again, i'd love to read that book. did you get it here in KL?

    1. yah true enough..many of us are getting caught to live up to the expectations of strangers, unknown spectators by the side road. Our pleasure and confidence are tied to what society think we should be and have.

yeah, I got the book in kl..there is a book sale going on at KL sentral for a while d. I'm not sure it sill going on or not. Costed me 5 bucks only..haha..I dont mind pass/post the book to u after I'm done with it

  4. I guess the need of having a superb body, a great face, beautiful hair, fancy clothes and any others you can think of are basically pressure placed on individuals by the society. Society expects too much and at times tend to forget about the bigger picture in life. I guess the mind set of the society needs to change, but is that possible? I doubt it. Oh well, individuals will need to feel comfortable in their own skin to be proud of themselves.

p.s. - the book looks interesting...gotta read it too :)

    1. well, it may change but it gonna take a lot of time and pain for it to happen. We are changing gradually but at the pace it going, I scare the world gonna end 1st before it gonna be an ideal place to live..haha

well, if u happen to pass through KL sentral, give it a look..maybe the book sale is still there =D
