Saturday was filled with cooking and cleaning the house as early as 6am. The 1st time I ever was asked to cook for raya. Before this, only my mum will do the cooking while the rest of us will dust off this old house into something bit more pleasant to the eye. Was assigned to cook kuah kacang, some cookies and cake. Quite challenging to cook without able to taste any of it.
Sunday and Monday were Raya time which means EATING A LOTTTTTT!!!!!!!! siao la, really non-stop eating every single hour. I lost count the number of relatives' and neigbours' house that we paid visit to. Need to give face and eat eventhough my tummy was churning inside out already. After done with the one in walking distance, had to drive far and wide for the next visit. Damn la, how to drive after eating all those lemang and rendang and ketupat. So shleepy!!!!!
How different was raya in Melbourne and here. Over there, go prayed, met friends, got one or two open house then went back home rest IF it's on weekend. If not, back to class. No need to go visit relatives and whatnot. To be frank, with the exception of my family here, I prefer raya over there more than here. Plus it's kinda lost the meaning already for me, didn't really enjoy raya anymore. Talking about getting older =.=
Yesterday was the most fun but also the most tiring day, my friend's wedding day. Ceremony started around 1pm, so by 10am had to get going. Picked up some friends along the way and moved to the designated place that we agreed on. But as usual also with making promise with them, only half an hour later everyone was there. Pretty hard to coordinate 10+ something cars + 1 superbike to go to the wedding place especially when only one of my friend knew the directions =P Spent 4 hours over there. Eating was just couple of minutes. The rest were talking and update on what happens to everyone. It been like 4 years already haven't meet almost all of them. Such a noisy bunchminus me XD
This reminds me of why I kinda hate this raya as well. Everytime I meet the old relatives, my uncle auntie one, the one thing they never fail to ask me was "When u gonna get marry?" Like seriously, every single time. And they will ask it again in few hours time. As if I be able to find someone in that short period of time T____T
On the way back home, something bad almost happened. All the fatigue accumulated from Saturday till yesterday, my body finally gave in. I was driving back home and I dozed off just a tiny bit. The next thing I knew, my car was practically few inches away from slamming into a car in front of mine. Floored the brake pedal quickly to stop any collision. After that, my eyes were wide open from the adrenaline pumping XD
Today I really need to rest, recuperate and enjoy the rest of the holiday. Nothing in my schedule other than BBQ at night. Need to rest my tummy as well from all the eating and digesting it had to do =D
To anyone going back to KL or anywhere, just be careful and rest if u get too tired. To everyone else, keep enjoying ur break while it lasts (pity u AD XD)
Love,
me
